In the latest Invesco Podcast Ben Gutteridge, Director of Model Portfolio Services, speaks to Christopher Mellor, Invesco’s Head of Commodity & Equity Product Strategy.

In a highly informative conversation, Christopher shares what he thinks are the most important factors influencing the gold price and how they have impacted recent performance; as well as what may lie ahead. Though gold dominates proceedings, some time is also afforded to reviewing similar features for silver.

Investment risks
The value of investments and any income will fluctuate (this may partly be the result of exchange rate fluctuations) and investors may not get back the full amount invested.

If the issuer cannot pay the specified return, the precious metal will be used to repay investors. Investors will have no claim on the other assets of the Issuer. Instruments providing exposure to commodities are generally considered to be high risk which means there is a greater risk of large fluctuations in the value of the instrument.

Currency hedging between the currency in which the underlying precious metal is typically quoted and the currency of the certificates may not completely eliminate the currency fluctuations between those two currencies and may affect the performance of the certificates.
