Cecile Retaureau
Head of Private Markets at Phoenix Asset Management
Cecile Retaureau joined Phoenix Asset Management as Head of Private Markets in August 2024 to lead Phoenix’s Private Markets team of 20+ investment professionals across Private debt, Real estate, Infrastructure, Mortgage Solutions, and Private equity. Her team is responsible for the origination and execution of private investments, supporting Phoenix’s Retirement Solutions and Pensions and Savings businesses, prioritising assets which generate a positive social or environmental impact as part of its on-going investment strategy. Cecile has nearly twenty years of experience and joins from UBS where she was Managing Director, Global Head of Cross-asset financing and Fixed income Solutions Origination & Distribution across both public and private markets. Prior to joining UBS, she has previously held Senior Global Markets Structuring & Sales roles at BNP Paribas and Credit Agricole. She graduated with a Master of Science in Applied Maths from Ecole Polytechnique and a Master of Science in Management from HEC Paris.
Nadeem Hussain
Head of Private Markets at LGPS Central
Nadeem Hussain has been with LGPS Central since 2020, leading the Private Markets division with over 15 years of extensive experience in Infrastructure and Private Markets. Nadeem’s career includes roles as both a principal investor and advisor. Prior to joining LGPS Central, he served as Investment Director at a global infrastructure fund, where he was key in sourcing and managing a diverse range of infrastructure and property assets. His earlier experience includes working as a corporate financier at one of the 'big four' accounting firms, where he provided strategic advice to fund managers. Nadeem began his career at a global investment bank, gaining expertise in leveraged buyouts and high-profile mergers and acquisitions. He holds an MSc in Finance from the University of Warwick and is an Associate Chartered Accountant, a title earned during his tenure at Deloitte.

Solomon Nevins
Founder at The Fund Review
Solomon is the founder of The Fund Review and leads the firm's fund and sector research. He started his career at AXA Architas where he spent 12 years leading the research into private market investments and managing multi-asset portfolios. Following this, he worked for CCLA Investment Management where he was head of the Alternatives team and managed a £2bn allocation to private markets investments. He is a CFA Charterholder, has an BSc in Economics & History from the University of Bristol and an MSc in Infrastructure Investment & Finance from UCL.

Joseph Rowland
Research Analyst at Rathbones
I started my career in an investment risk team before transitioning into a fund research analyst role. I currently cover private equity, hedge funds, and UK small-cap equities. I joined the industry shortly after graduating from the University of Southampton with a BA (Hons) in Geography. Since then, I’ve completed the Investment Management Certificate and the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing. Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf and squash, and I’m always keen to explore new places through travel.
Tom Smith
Partner and Lead Investment Consultant at Aon
Tom Smith joined Aon in 2006 and has 19 years’ experience providing investment advice. He is based in our London office and advises some of Aon’s largest clients in the UK, including pension funds, foundations, and sovereign wealth funds. In total his clients have assets of around £12bn, with investment approaches ranging from simple passive to bespoke and with large, established private markets programmes. Tom’s collaborative style ensures that stakeholders are fully engaged and comfortable with recommended strategies. He is a thought leader within Aon, serving on the UK Investment Committee and Client Solutions group, which keeps him at the forefront of best practice and innovation. Tom is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Bristol and an MSc in Actuarial Finance from Imperial College London.

Richard Moon
Head of Private Markets at Railpen
Richard runs the Private Markets portfolio at Railpen. The Private Markets team has the remit and responsibility to invest across high-risk illiquid strategies through a variety of investment structures (funds, co-investments, secondaries, directs), focussed primarily on equity strategies. Having joined Railpen in 2007, Richard has evolved and implemented Railpen’s current approach to private market strategies promoting the principles of flexibility, control and cost. Earlier in his tenure at Railpen, Richard was responsible for the commodities pooled fund. Richard started his career in 2003 as a strategy consultant serving the Private Markets industry. He is a guest lecturer on the Private Equity executive education programme at University of Oxford’s Said Business School.

Emma Tackoor
Director, Investment Specialist at UBS
Emma is a Client Investment Specialist, advising clients on the full range of discretionary and advisory investment solutions, including private markets. Prior to joining UBS in 2022, Emma worked as a Portfolio Manager for Coutts & Co. where she managed discretionary portfolios. Emma is a graduate of the University of Leeds and is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds the Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management and the CFA ESG certificate.

Tim West
Partner at EY
Tim is a Partner with Ernst & Young LLP in London, and is the Alternative Investments leader in the UK. He is also the Global Client Service Partner for a number of the firm’s large asset management and asset servicing clients. Tim has over 30 years of industry experience, having previously held CEO and COO roles in global asset managers, working in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. He has held Director roles on company and fund boards in the UK, Ireland, Guernsey, Malta, Luxembourg and the Cayman Islands, and represents the EY organisation's interests with the Alternative Investment Management Association. Tim is a graduate of Imperial College, London.
